Good cuts and shots of the snow. And I liked how he stood on the porch for a little bit just staring off. I feel like that's how someone would be when they're lonely.
I like how you brought the guy outside for him to realize that there was no one else around. I would have liked some sort of sound effects though. Good video!
The lack of music increased the feeling of loneliness. I wish you would have felt the actor's loneliness earlier in the film. He didn't seem to mind being alone until the very end. The shot on the porch as you were leaving the house seemed to linger, maybe shorted it just a bit.
The guy seemed lonely, but I didn't really get the feeling of loneliness. I liked the shot of him walking from the house out to the street, felt like a movie i've previously seen. Some good shots for sure.
I liked the different camera angle shots a lot especially the very last one when you're on the long drawn out road and the complete absence of people with the wide shot really makes your loneliness stand out.
I didn't understand you're emotion. I got that he was by himself, but I didn't get the loneliness of it. The shot of him walking down the middle of the street was good.
I really like that it was shot in black and white but I think there needed to be some sort of sound. I liked the use of taking the subject out of focus once he got outside, but it could have maybe transitioned sooner to the next shot. Really great job though of conveying loneliness.
The shots were really nice. I liked the contrast of the snow and him walking alone. The contrast helped to elude to his loneliness and the fact that he stood out also helped this.
I love that your talent is just walking and its snowing and night and you get sort of sad for the guy. And you end with him breaking down and crying (i assume). In the first few shots when he's putting on his coat, I love that he looks towards the door as if someone should be walking in but never actually does.
I was a little confused on some of the shots. Especially the one where you're walking down the road then it just cuts to you kneeling. My favorite part is when you were walking down the road though, the snow falling was a perfect scene.
I like the different angles, but I felt like there is something missing. Didn't really get the whole feel of loneliness in the middle when you were getting up or putting your jacket on until you were outside, on the middle of the street, by yourself.
THAT LAST SHOT SUCKED
ReplyDeleteI am trying to decide if the absence of sound is adding to the loneliness or if music would make it stronger

ReplyDeleteThe camera work is solid. I like the decision to go B&W as well. I think it emphasizes the loneliness this dude is feeling.
ReplyDeleteI liked that you chose to have no sound. It really isolates you. The scene when you put your jacket on seemed a little too long. Love your water bed.

ReplyDeleteAgree with that.
