EXT. Ron’s Van

                        RON

Is this what I think it is Joe? Cocaine?

                        JOE

Listen buddy, I can explain. It’s not quite what you think. It is, but listen-

Ron interrupts excitingly and throws the bags back to Joe.

                        RON

I don’t want to know Joe, I don’t know how you do it, but you might have saved us from eviction. You can sell this right? To one of your greasy buddies? Why didn’t you tell me?

Joe pauses, swallows, takes a deep breath and tosses the bags back into the van.

                        JOE

Well, uhh, I knew you wouldn’t approve of it Ron. I was uhh, going to Scotty’s to sell it to him actually. Told him earlier to keep it on the D.L., so you wouldn’t find out.

              RON

Very Sly. You’re right, you always think of something Joe. I’m glad we’re friends. Let’s catch some dinner.

              JOE

Yeah, sounds good.

  The two gather the fishing gear and make their way back to the fire pit. The two sit down.

                        RON

The trick is to lay a good foundation first. Then we need to set the kindling over the tinder in a form of a teepee. See? Like this.

Joe obviously isn’t interested in the fire; his eyes keep wandering over to the van.

Documentary Subjects

Richard Gilewitz

 Richard Gilewitz is an accomplished six and twelve string guitarist whom has studied with some of the best guitarist in the United States. His style spans blues, rock, jazz, folk, classical and many more. Richard has been performing around the country for more than two decades and run an instructional guitar camp.

Yvonne Desrosiers 

Yvonne Desrosier is a currently retired secondary education art instructor at New Prairie. Although retired from public school,  Yvonne continues pass on her knowledge as an educator at Fire Arts Inc.in South Bend, In. where she offers workshops. Yvonee is currently vice president and a founding member of Fire Arts Inc. Yvonne also owns and operates Talisman Art Studio and Production. In an almost Renaissance fashion, Desrosiers does not limit her creativity or activities to pottery and sculpture.  She also works as a tattoo artist, guitarist and producer of solo acoustic performers.

Kevin Baginski

My friend, Kevin B, would be an interesting documentary subject because of his reckless, over-the-top, lifestyle. A wild man who has little control once introduced to drugs or alcohol , Kevin B is as entertaining as he is intriguing.

Brainstorm #5

Nonlinear Narrative

An idea of mine would be to make a nonlinear narrative focusing on the life of a student. The piece would depict cause and effect  as the main character makes choices along their life and is forced to live with the consequences. Alternative realities of ways an outcome could have possibly turned up will also be a large part of the piece. Films that I see for inspiration would be ones such as Pulp Fiction and Into the Wild.

Mini-Documentary

Mini documentary between 3- 8 minutes showcasing local business. Includes testimonials from employees and customers. Various shots of product in making as well as finished product. Possible businesses could include restaurants, artists, retail stores, specialty shops etc..

Multi-Channel 

Shots of various objects around the house producing rhythms put together in a multi-channel work to create a musical composition. Such objects could include a click of a ceiling fan, faucet dripping, dog barking, wind chimes, footsteps, glass breaking etc.. Compositions could continue to pile on top of one another and gain volume until a climax when the sound breaks. Thus leaving soundless objects.

Emotion - Loneliness

A linear, narrative piece that depicts loneliness in various ways. Shot in black and white. 

Fade in, a man wakes up, checks his phone, no messages, emails, anything. The man slowly wakes up. walks. outside. There is nobody, it is gloomy out, the only sound is chilling wind. The man stares into the distance. He walks, alone. A feeling is despair shoots across the man's face as he continues to walk in the cold wind, all you can hear is his footsteps, getting louder and louder and he walks, the sound of the wind dies down. The man stops, turns around, scans the horizon, (silhouette) and falls down to his knees. The wind picks back up and you hear the wind and his whimpers as the piece fades out.

Brainstorm #1

Mockumentary 

A narrative documentary in which depicts a fictional local celebrity's rise to fame and how it affected his friends and family. The celebrity could be a musician/singer, designer, businessperson, model, haven't nailed it down quite yet.

The overall feel of the piece will be somewhat light with comedic elements. The piece will be somewhat nonlinear as it will jump from varies stages of his/her career until it meets up at the most important part of their life. Various fictional friends and family will give testimonials throughout the film related to the celebrity's fame and life.

Bio

My name is Rusty Holse. I am in my fourth year at IUSB majoring in New Media with a concentration in music. New Media interests me because I enjoy the aspect of creating and expressing myself through art, as well as the technical aspects of the field. I am an avid drummer in a rock band and I enjoy many types of music and movies. I enjoy working with audio and also enjoy automotive work. If I could make any type of media without restrictions, I would create large scale public installation pieces that incorporated audio, video and 3-d objects. My artwork tends to be focused primarily on cultural relevance, rhythmic structure and timed patterns, personal imagination, various integrated Medias as well as current and past technologies. I am similarly interested in revisiting the past for a source of creation and new meanings.
